This rich, lively and heartfelt 4-part setting of Psalm 113 is a neglected treasure of Tudor music. The musical material is substantial without being too challenging to read, making this a particularly rewarding work for smaller church choirs.
From Psalm 113
Praise ye the Lord, ye children,
Praise ye the Name of the Lord.
Blessed be the Name of the Lord for evermore.
The Lord’s Name is praised from the east unto the west.
The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory is above the heavens.
Who is like unto the Lord our God
Which hath his dwelling on high,
And yet humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven and earth?
He raiseth up the weak out of the dust
And lifteth the poor out of the mire.
He maketh the barren woman to keep house
And to be a joyful mother of children.
So be it, Amen.
