A native of Lawrence, Kansas, MARGARET BURK (b. 1990) is a conductor, composer, and vocalist dedicated to the transformative power of choral music. Since 2022, she has served as Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where she conducts three of the college’s five choirs, teaches coursework in conducting and choral literature, and directs the annual Carthage Christmas Festival. In demand as a clinician throughout the country, Burk has directed All-State and District honor choruses as well as church music festivals in Illinois, Virginia, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Kansas, Indiana, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Her compositions have been heard at churches, concert halls, colleges, and schools across the United States and the United Kingdom, including performances at the national conferences of the American Choral Directors’ Association and the Association of Anglican Musicians. She holds degrees from the University of Michigan (D.M.A.), Yale University (M.M.), and St. Olaf College (B.M.E.).
