Three short, versatile settings were written for the Cathedral Choir of First Congregational Church of Los Angeles for use in worship contexts. Joyful, harmonically rich and accessible, these settings will be popular with choirs and at home in a variety of denominational worship styles. 

 

JAEBON HWANG (b. 1982) is a Portland-based composer, organist, and collaborative keyboardist whose work spans sacred choral and organ works as well as concert and film music. Her compositions, published by Lorenz and Selah, have been performed across the United States and internationally, reflecting a versatile and narrative-driven musical voice. She studied composition at Korea National University of Arts and Scoring for Film & Multimedia at New York University. Her work received recognition in the Turner Classic Movies Young Film Composers Competition, and she was selected for multiple ASCAP film scoring workshops on both coasts. Dr. Hwang is on the faculty at Lewis & Clark College, where she teaches organ, and previously taught composition and music theory at San Diego State University. She holds the Fellow of the American Guild of Organists (FAGO) and a Doctor of Musical Arts in organ performance from the University of Southern California. Her church music leadership has included positions at First United Methodist Church of San Diego, Westwood United Methodist Church in Los Angeles, and First Congregational Church of Los Angeles. In addition to composing, she performs nationwide and has collaborated with prestigious organizations including the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the San Diego Symphony.
